Michiko Maruyama, a third year UBC Medical Student, is putting her background in Industrial Design to work. Through the integration of design and medicine, Michiko and the BSK Team are currently creating the prototypes for the Burn Survival Kit.
The Industrial Design Process involves brainstorming, sketching, drafting, model-making, prototyping and research. Creating model after model, the design is being fine-tuned and will soon be ready for the next stage of research.
The Industrial Design goal of the Burn Survival Kit is to create an intuitive kit design and an easy-to-follow instruction sheet. The contents of the kit will be carefully organized to guide the user through the initial burn care process.
